We are going to list these wineries on Whidbey Island in order from the north part of the island to south Whidbey. The south end of Whidbey Island has the most wineries.
Rain Shadow Cellars
Nestled in the picturesque Penn Cove of Coupeville lies Rain Shadow Cellars, a charming family-owned winery that boasts a selection of premium wines crafted from hand-picked grapes sourced from the acclaimed Lake Chelan. While their tasting room is only open on occasion, visitors are encouraged to check their website ahead of time for available hours. For a more exclusive experience, Rain Shadow Cellars also offers private events, perfect for intimate gatherings and special occasions.
Led by winemaker Sean Merrill, Rain Shadow Cellars is a family-owned and operated winery, co-owned by Sean’s wife Kim Merrill, as well as Craig and Kristy Anderson. Some of the wines you can enjoy are whites such as 2021 Sauvignon Blanc, and reds including 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2018 Cabernet Franc, 2018 Merlot, and more.

Holmes Harbor Cellars
Greg and Theresa Martinez, owners of Holmes Harbor Cellars, source their grapes from Yakima and Walla Walla Valleys. Theresa is a professional chemist and Greg is a commercial pilot and Navy veteran.
Their wine tasting room, which overlooks Holmes Harbor, has been open since 2008. Holmes Harbor Cellars is typically open Wednesdays through Sundays from 12 PM – 6PM, but make sure to check their social media page ahead in case of any changes.
Holmes Harbor Cellars is a must-visit among the Whidbey Island wineries. One of our personal favorites, they offer outdoor seating that includes cozy, heated igloos where you can enjoy your wine with a view.

Dancing Fish Vineyards
Dancing Fish Vineyards is a family-owned winery on Whidbey Island that also serves as an event venue. This winery can hold events from live music, to retreats, to weddings, dinners and more.
The rustic hospitality barn is a popular choice for weddings on Whidbey Island and is located right next to an open-air loafing shed, the winery, which include the barrel and tasting rooms, the gardens, and the vineyards.
While Dancing Fish Vineyards crafts wines that are sourced from other local vineyards in Washington, they also harvest and create wine from their own grapes, Madeline Angevine, Burmunk and Siegerrebe.
Dancing Fish is one of our favorite wineries on Whidbey Island. We love going to their live music events on Friday evenings to listen to local musicians while enjoying a delicious glass of wine.

Hierophant Meadery
At Hierophant Meadery, you will find a unique selection of botanically infused honey wines, which are called meads. The meadery is a family-run business and apothecary store, and you can enjoy a glass of mead or a flight, and purchase a bottle to take home.
These flavorful Metheglin-style honey wines are such a unique wine-tasting experience that you must include them on your list of Whidbey Island wineries to visit! With their distinctive flavor profiles and use of locally sourced ingredients, these meads truly capture the essence of Whidbey Island and are a testament to the creativity and passion of the winemakers.
Hierophant Meadery has two locations, the Green Bluff Tasting Room in Mead, WA, and Hierophant Whidbey Island, which is the production facility and tasting room in Freeland on the island.

Blooms Winery
Blooms Winery and 5511 Bistro is celebrating 20 years in 2023! This local favorite offers indoor and outdoor dining options, as well as live music during Saturday night dinner. Blooms also features rotating exhibits from local artists. They are typically open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Ken and Virginia Bloom have been making wine since 1998, but opened Blooms Winery in 2003. In 2017, they started operating as a full service restaurant, featuring delicious meals food and wine pairings such as Penn Cove Mussels with Blooms Semillon, 3 Sisters Market beef burger paired with Blooms Cabernet, and many others that feature local businesses on Whidbey Island. You can even rent out the Blooms Winery suite which is a one bedroom vacation rental available on Holmes Harbor waterfront.

Ott and Hunter
Ott & Hunter Wines is a family-owned boutique winery with two locations on Whidbey Island. The Langley Tasting Room is open daily and reservations are recommended. The Clinton Winery Production Site is only open on Friday and Saturday by appointment.
Every Saturday night, they have live music at the Langley Tasting Room. You can reserve your ticket in advance. Enjoy white and rose wines such as the 2021 Viognier, 2021 Rose, 2021 Possession, and reds such as 2019 Radieux, 2019 Syrah Black Boushey Vineyard, and many more.

Comforts of Whidbey Winery
The Comforts of Whidbey is not only a beloved winery but also serves as a bed and breakfast. The bed and breakfast, located above the winery and tasting room, is open from February through November.
A few of the wines you can enjoy are the 2021 Madeleine Angevine, 2021 Puget Sound Siegerrebe, 2021 High Tide White, and the Oaked Madeleine Sylvaner, all grown and produced at Comforts of Whidbey Winery.
The tasting room is open on Fridays from 2 PM – 5 PM, and from 12 PM – 5 PM on Saturdays, and Sundays. If your group has more than 6 people, you will need a reservation.

Spoiled Dog Winery is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12 PM – 5 PM, with extra hours in the summer. If you have more than 6 people in your group, than you must make a reservation. Their boutique winery produces hand-crafted wine from their own vineyards.
One of the best parts of this family-owned winery is that it is family and pet-friendly. They have four covered gazebos that come equipped with heaters, making it an all-weather haven. The wine tasting flights and the option to share a bottle, paired with stunning views, make for an unforgettable experience.
Enjoy wines from Yakima Valley, such as the 2021 Pinot Gris, 2021 Sauvignon Blanc, 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2019 Merlot, and many more at this local hot spot.

Greenbank Farm Wine Shop
Nestled within the historic Greenbank Farm, the Greenbank Farm Wine Shop is a must-visit for wine lovers seeking Whidbey Island’s best. You can enjoy a variety of wines by glass or in flights, or take home a bottle to enjoy.
They have local Whidbey Island wines, as well as fruit and dessert wines, organic wines, hard ciders, and craft brews.
As a local, spending an afternoon at the Greenbank Farm is one of our favorite activities. Make sure to try their delicious loganberry wine and loganberry dessert wine – both are excellent wines and worth taking a bottle home.
Our favorite part about this wine shop? They ocassionally offer wine slushies that are perfect on a warm summer day along a slice of Whidbey Pie, which is located right next door! The Tipsy Jellyfish is a wine bar located in historic downtown Oak Harbor. They have trivia every Wednesday evening and karaoke on Saturday nights. They offer a large variety of red wines and white wines from all around the world, as well as craft beer, cider, seltzer, and bar snacks.
