The small town of Forks lies in the Olympic Peninsula region of Washington State. It has become a popular destination for those who enjoyed the Twilight movies and books. Forks is a relatively tiny town, with a population of only 3,385 people according to the U.S. Census in 2021.

Forks is the rainiest town not only in the state of Washington but in the contiguous United States.  Forks experiences a temperate oceanic climate with mild summers and cool, wet winters.

Temperatures usually range from mid-30s in the winter to low 70s in the summer. You can expect a fair amount of rainfall at any time of year, so you will want to make sure to bring a rainjacket when visiting.

Visit the Forks Visitor Information Center

At the visitor center you will find the Forks Chamber of Commerce, and you can grab a map of Twilight locations, as well as brochures for other things to do nearby. You can also find Bella’s trucks out front in the parking lot and you can take a photo with them. One of the trucks is from the movie version, and another is from the book series.

Visit Twilight-inspired spots from the books and movies

“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…”  Although the films were not shot in Forks, this charming town served as the inspiration for the setting in Meyer’s books.

Forks High School

You can find Forks high school and take a picture of their school sign. This school is the one that both the movies and films were based on. However, they actually filmed the exterior scenes of the film, when Edward saves Bella, at Kalama High School in Kalama, WA.

Swan House

This 1905 Farmhouse was the inspiration for Charlie and Bella’s house in the books. You can actually stay in it for your visit as it is now a rental property in Forks.

Visit the Forever Twilight in Forks Collection Museum

The Forever Twilight in Forks Collection Museum is a must-see destination for any fan of the Twilight saga. They have an impressive collection of props and costumes from the films, giving visitors a chance to step into the enchanting world of vampires and werewolves. 

It’s located at the Rainforest Arts Center. The admission is free, but they do accept donations.

September 16, 2022 – May 24, 2023: Open on Fridays and Saturdays – 12 pm – 4 pm.
May 25, 2023 – September 4, 2023: Open on Thursdays through Mondays – 12 pm – 4 pm,
Tuesdays and Wednesdays – 2 pm to 4 pm.
Keep in mind that you must be in line by 3:30 PM.

Explore La Push and First Beach, Second, and Third Beach.  

“La Push, baby. It’s La Push!” Jacob and his werewolf pack live on La Push on the Quileute reservation. So obviously, one of the best places nearby Forks to explore is La Push. The pictures above are from First Beach. Both Second and Third Beach require a small hike to get to the rocks up close. I also recommend checking out Rialto Beach right next to these, and also on the reservation.

Make sure to be mindful that you are on sacred ground and to follow all rules while visiting.

Although in the movie saga, they visit La Push and Second Beach, the filming actually took place on Indian Beach and Cannon Beach in Oregon.

Forever Twilight in Forks Festival

Did you know that every fall they hold a Twilight festival on Bella’s birthday weekend? It’s called the ‘Forever Twilight in Forks Festival.’

You can find special guest stars at this popular festival, including some of the actors themselves. Some of the guests have included Billy Burke (Charlie), Peter Facinelli (Carlisle), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), and Ashley Greene (Alice).

John’s Beachcombing Museum

The Beachcombing Museum features exhibits filled with items that have been collected off of beaches. It’s pretty neat how they have taken all of these different things and made them into creations that are filled with treasures. Definitely worth a visit!

Hike Elk Creek Conservation Area

This well-maintained trail is an easy and beautiful hike featuring stunning moss covered trees. The trail is only about 3 miles with an elevation gain of 275 feet. Dogs are allowed on a leash!

White water river rafting and kayaking

Another great activity to enjoy in Forks is to take a white water rafting trip with Hoh River Rafters. These rafting trips take you down the Hoh River with an experienced guide. This outdoor experience can be enjoyed from March through mid-September.
